We've been buying backpacks online for years and never had any problems. Before you buy, do make sure to check the seller's return policy, but you can almost always return an unused pack within a certain time frame and you're good. If it doesn't fit quite right after trying it on at home, you can always return!

Comfort
Both packs are identical in terms of comfort. The suspension system is light and delivers the desired comfort, flexibility and stability perfectly during the activities that require you to be agile.
Raptor Series are equipped with lightweight AirScape Suspension System which is Osprey's one of the latest cutting-edge technologies[2]. It's kind of frameless - meaning that there's no really stiff and tough material that supports the pack.
This way stability is increased as the load is kept closer to your body since the pack is more flexible and hence easily molded to your back.
Of course, with a flexible frame, suspension performance at heavier weights is sacrificed. Fortunately, at 10 - 14 liters it's impossible to overload these packs to the point where their suspension and hence carrying comfort fails - so it's a darn rational trade off.
Osprey's BioStretch harness and hip belt adapt to your neck, shoulder and waist anatomy and conveys the load from harness to hip belt extremely well. This helps you walk longer distances without the extra exhaustion as the study by Epstein et al conducted in 2017[3].
Although the shoulder straps and hip belt are kept thinner with less padding to save weight, they're covered with very pleasant mesh to prevent them from cutting off your shoulders, neck and waist - another "darn rational trade off".
Organization
Raptor 14 offers 1 unenclosed front panel floating pouch, 1 front zippered organizer pocket, 2 unenclosed mesh water bottle holders at sides and 2 unenclosed pouch (inside front zippered organizer pockets in addition.
Main compartment offers most of the volume. There're 3 unenclosed pockets inside:
Bottom pocket provides a very handy removable tool wrap. When rolled out, it provides super easy access to your tools:
Zippered top slash pocket shown below is also available in both products and made of an embossed material. It's perfect for your valuable fragile items such as jewelry, glasses, watches and any small electronics that you don't want to risk scratching.
Pack your Raptor the right way to improve your overall outdoors experience.
Although it does make sense to carry smart phones in this pocket, we usually prefer hip belt pockets because of easier accessibility. You don't want your laziness to prevent you from taking the photo of the breathtaking views you'll come across!
A front pouch for storing wet, smelly or dirty items is a must have especially during highly energetic activities where you'll sweat a lot:
Following front zippered organizer pocket is also available in Raptor 14 only and comes with two sleeves (one red, one black) and a key clip inside:
Also, both products come with an lid lock at the front for bike helmet attachment:
Hydration
Both packs are identical in terms of hydration. Innovative design of hydration system ensures the ease of drinking, filling and cleaning while delivering desired stability during dynamic activities.
The number one key attribute of Osprey's Raptor/Raven Series is state-of-the-art hydration reservoir specifically designed for the activities that require you to be agile. That's why all the features are well thought out to make the pack AND hose wobble significantly less.
One end of the zipper reaches to the upper portion of shoulder strap to allow you to have the desired hose length and avoid extra tube wobble in front of you:
The bladder is always kept in upright position with the help of top loop.
Hydrostatic Backerplate attached to the outer surface of bladder makes inserting a fully loaded reservoir to a fully loaded pack much easier.
Once filled, turn the bladder upside down and suck the excess air from the top.
Fill Easy
To open and close the reservoir while filling, slide the handle left and right as follows.
Once filled, turn the reservoir upside down to make sure there aren't any leaks. Also ,watch out the Max Fill line!
Osprey's Quick Connect Kit | No products found. which is sold separately (1) eliminates the need to unthread the tubing while filling and (2) comes with an additional male piece that can connect to most water filters to provide easier filling.
Drink Easy
Spills from the bite valve are prevented by a quarter turn lock. Once you quarter turn the other way to unlock, simply bite the valve gently with your teeth and start drinking.
Bite valve is kept clean with included valve cover.
Clean Easy
Although there are some other packs with easier cleaning, cleaning your Osprey Raptor/Raven hydration reservoir is quite easy. Simply follow these steps:
1. Squeeze lemon juice into the reservoir and fill it with water.
2. Freeze it.
3. Thaw it out and rinse.
4. Fill it with warm water and add a cleaning tablet. DO NOT use bleach or boiling water. Osprey's Hydraulics Reservoir Cleaning Kit | No products found. tablets are recommended.
5. Close the slide handle and wait 5 minutes.
6. Shake the reservoir for 30 seconds to disperse the solution.
7. To fill the bite valve and hose with the solution, drain the water as follows. DO NOT empty the entire solution:
8. Let it sit for 15 minutes before emptying it.
9. Hang dry to finish the process.
I'm not planning to make this article too cleaning focused so I'm not going to mention how deep clean your reservoir.

Durability
Buy it for life: Even though the zippers, buckles, suspension system and 210D Nylon & 600D Packcloth material of Farpoint 40 stay just as new after years of use; it's still a relief to know that Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee[4] has got your back just in case of any issues for any reason.
When someone asks us why they should purchase an Osprey pack, durability and suspension are the first things we mention.
We've never been very kind to their packs and experienced literally zero problems so far.
Besides, knowing that Osprey All Mighty Guarantee is always there in case of any problems is quite assuring. You can enjoy the moment and stop worrying about the pack completely.
Conclusion
We recommend Osprey Raptor 14 | No products found. (women's counterpart Osprey Raven 14 | No products found.) because of its (1) better organization and (2) increased volume as having the additional space and not needing it is always better than needing additional space and not having it!

Osprey Raven 10 vs 14
The only difference between Osprey Raptor and Raven products is that suspension of Raven is designed to correspond to a woman's neck, shoulder, back and waist anatomy to provide the same comfort that Raptor does for men.
That's why, for the same reasons (better organization and extra volume), we recommend Osprey Raven 14 over Raven 10.
