I asked you "Down jackets with hoods or no hoods?".
71% voted for hoods. 29% didn't. Shucks.
Down Jackets: Do you prefer them hoodless or hooded?
Kinda surprised with these results. I belong to the minority in here.
I understand hoods with super lofty, Gore-Tex down jackets like Thorium SV and Alpha, but other than that, I'm camp no hood.
I have a hooded Thorium AR and a hoodless Cerium (formerly LT). I find the looks of hooded down jackets a bit too "sportsy" at times.
I feel hoodless down jackets better suit to more formal looks. Wearing them on top of dress pants look better. My Cerium is in Black Sapphire so the color allows this too.
In the end, my hoodless Cerium is worn more than my hooded Thorium AR.
They're both terrible against resisting water (although the Thorium AR has the slight edge). So I don't even think about putting them on when it's raining anyway. Haven't found myself in a situation where I wished having a hood until now.
Additional obvious benefit of hoodless down jackets is that the hoods don't nest when used in layers. I don't like layering down jackets, so I can't relate.
