Presidents Day Sales are live!

The YETI Roadie 15 features a DoubleDuty shoulder strap that can be shortened to allow for single-hand cooler carrying.
Just in time for Fourth of July festivities, YETI released the newest member of the Roadie hard cooler family. The Roadie 15 is the smallest hard cooler yet from the iconic Austin-based cooler and drinkware company. So where does, or should, it fit in your YETI collection?

Size and capacity of the Roadie 15
YETI bills its new Roadie as specifically designed to be strapped to your ATV, paddleboard or kayak for a day of adventuring while also being easy enough to carry from your vehicle to your favorite beach spot or fishing hole.
The Roadie 15's outside dimensions are 16.9" x 11.2" x 14.0", but what we care about most is how much you can fit inside the cooler. Its 15-quart capacity means you can squeeze in a 12-pack of your favorite standard-size cans with ice, or a couple wine bottles or 2-liter sodas laying on their sides. The Roadie 15 weighs just less than 10 pounds when empty.

The new YETI Roadie 15 can fit a 12-pack of standard sized cans with ice. Nice.
For some context here, the next largest YETI Roadie is the Roadie 24, which weighs in at just more than 13 pounds when empty and is tall enough to hold wine bottles vertically instead of horizontally. But it's larger dimensions make it much less convenient than the Roadie 15 for easy over-the-shoulder schlepping.
Of course, YETI's options of hard-sided coolers are seemingly endless and continue to expand, as evidenced by the new Roadie 15. This size and capacity chart shows them all in an easy to compare format. Apologies in advance to your wallet.
Roadie 15 features
The new Roadie comes equipped with YETI's 10-inch-long DoubleDuty™ shoulder strap, a soft-surface pad to make the weight of the Roadie 15 less noticeable and more comfortable when transporting on your bony shoulder. The double in DoubleDuty comes from its inclusion of a padded webbing handle for single-handed cooler carrying when the length of the strap is cinched down.
The DoubleDuty™ strap can also be completely removed from the Roadie 15 depending on your needs and uses.
Many of the Roadie 15's other features are pretty standard for this line of YETI hard coolers, and they include:
- LipGrip™ Handles
- Non-slip feet on the base of the Roadie 15 to prevent slipping and sliding while on smooth surfaces
- Drain plug for quick and easy draining of melted ice water
- Tie-down slots to secure your Roadie to anything from your boat to your truck bed to your SUP
- QuickLatch™ system for closing, opening and securing the lid of your Roadie cooler
Standard YETI Roadie features include, clockwise from top left: Leak-proof drain plug; QuickLatch one-handed latches for lid opening and closing; tie-down slots; and slip-proof cooler feet.
Color options
The launch of the Roadie 15 brings six color options in total, including five of YETI's core colors: Rescue Red, Charcoal, White, Navy and Tan, and one seasonal color: Big Wave Blue (pictured below).

Big Wave Blue is the only seasonal color at time of launch.
Roadie 15 vs 24: How to decide
So now that the Roadie 24 is no longer the smallest Roadie on the block, which one is best? Well, they're two very different coolers with different ideal use cases. Enough so that we wrote a separate article to compare them. Here's a summary of how we'd break down the decision-making process:
- The Roadie 15's smaller footprint makes it ideal for fitting in snug spaces that the Roadie 24 simply can't. Think of the backseat floorboard of your vehicle, which is the perfect spot to keep your Roadie 15, whether for stashing refrigerated and frozen grocery store purchases or keeping your snacks and drinks cold on a road trip. This smaller footprint is also why YETI pitches it as the right hard cooler to strap to the back of your ATV, kayak, SUP, etc.
- The Roadie 24 lacks a drain plug. Does it matter? Not enough that it would sway our decision. But it does seem odd that the Roadie 24, which is larger in size and therefore you'd be more likely to use with ice cubes and their resulting melt, doesn't have a drain plug option. The Roadie 15, on the other hand, is small enough that you could often get away with only using YETI ICE packs and thus would deal with less cube melt and a need to drain. Go figure.
- As is so often the case with coolers, a bigger size simply provides you more options for whatever your next use is. By that rationale alone, go with the Roadie 24 if you have any concerns about lack of space in the Roadie 15 and your'e committed to a hard-sided cooler. If, however, you know there are times or places where the size of the Roadie 15 is exactly what you need because a larger cooler won't fit/is overkill/etc., then buy the newest YETI and don't look back.
Is the YETI Roadie 15 worth it?
At $200, where does the Roadie 15 fit in your cooler lineup? If you don't own a smaller-sized YETI cooler for day-long adventures and if you value the ruggedness and durability of their hard-sided coolers, we think the Roadie 15 is a sound long-term investment.
But if you tend to prefer soft-sided coolers for easy transport and one-day affairs, YETI has no shortage of suitable options. They won't necessarily be less expensive, but they might better fit your use cases. The Hopper Flip 18 Soft Cooler, size-wise, is comparable to the Roadie 15, for example.
The Roadie 15 is available now on Yeti.com and in all official YETI store locations (but not yet YETI retailers).
